ADVERBS

With “verb”, a “doing word” is meant:

An adverb says to what extent.

Just how that works we quickly see

By taking out the word “quickly”.

“We see” remains but I must say

I really don’t know in what way

It is we see - quite fast or slow?

An adverb will ensure we know.

An adverb also often gives

An extra life to adjectives

By adding on the end “ly”

And there’s your adverb, home and dry.

E.g. from “slow”, we get “slowly”

How much easier can it be?

An adverb shapes a verb, it’s true,

But adjectives they can change too.

“They were quite angry” – here we might

Know less without the adverb “quite”.
